Procedures
Step 1:Disscussion Presentation Practice Comic strips and pitures
Step 2:Discusssion / Presentation
1.T: Do you know what is a disaster? How many disasters hhave you learned or known in your life? Ss discuss the topic in groups.
2. Say sth about the disasters to the Ss : a natural disaster is a very serious accident caused by natural forces. It usually causes great damage or loss of life. List the Ss’ answers on the Bb.

3. Learn the following above as a class.
4. Get Ss to practise speaking them out in front of the Ss.
Step3 :Welcome to the unit
A. Page 89 Parts A / B, individuals give their choices and explain their reasons. Check as a whole class.
B. Emphasis some language points together.
thousands / hundreds / millions of.. /crash into sth. /wash ... away
start/ cause a big fire/thunder and lightning
Step 4 :Listening / Practice
A.Comic strips on page 88. Play the tape for the Ss twice, the following questions for them.
1.What’s the weather like ? 2. What does Hobo want to do at this time?
3. Doyou think Eddie will let Hobo in?
4. What does Hobo ask Eddie to do for him?
5. Do you think Eddie will mop the floor for Hobo, why?
6. Why does Hobo ask Hobo for help?
B. Listen to the tape again, make all the Sc repeat after the tape. Then get the
individuals to repeat one by one.
C. Ss practice reding the part freely for their acting.
D. Get some pairs to act the part in front of the class.
Step5:Extension activates
1. Bring some pictures of different kinds of weather conditions. Ask Ss to discuss them and write some words or phrases to describe them in groups.
2. Get Ss to make up a dialogue/ conversation first, then give them the chance to act out in front of the class.
3. Make sure they can give fluent English in front of the class.
4. Encourage them at any time.

2. Prepare for the Reading Part.
